Tom Hanks was born in Concord, California. He started out in a supporting role in the low budget slasher film, He Knows You're Not Alone and later got his first lead role in Mazes and Monsters. Tom Hanks has hit some hits and misses, one notable hit (Nothing in Common) establishing his talent in serious roles.

After three more misses, in 1988 Hanks managed to establish himself as a major hollywood actor in the film, Big. He continued in his vein of comedy roles until 1992 in the film A League of Their Own, putting him back up at the top. Ever since then, he has been starring in dramatic and serious roles in classic films, such as Forrest Gump, Apollo 13, Philidelphia, etc, as well as the war epic, Saving Private Ryan, one of his first collaborations with Steven Speilberg.

Since then, Hanks has continued his acting career, as well as directing and producing, such as the Miniseries called John Adams, and most notably in another collaboration with Speilberg, the HBO miniseries Band of Brothers, as well as it's spiritual sequel minseries, the main topic of this wiki.
